The novel "Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus" was written by Mary Shelley and published in 1818.

The novel tells the story Victor Frankenstein, a scientist, who brings a monster into being. He finds himself disgusted with his creation and thus leaves it behind. The monster is left to fend for itself and learns that humans are horrified of it, and it blames its creator for its abhorrent life.
