Like every state university, TUD is committed to promoting the interdisciplinary nature of its sciences and contributing to their integration into society. The TU Dresden has successfully distinguished itself with its stable diversity in research and teaching. What is student life like at the TU Dresden or in Dresden?
Since Dresden is located directly on the Elbe, many students spend their free time on this river in summer. From the Elbe you also have a wonderful view of Dresden's old town. This is also where the film nights on the banks of the Elbe take place in summer: for two months you have the opportunity to enjoy films right on the river in a relaxed atmosphere and to attend exclusive concerts. The Great Garden in Dresden is also very popular - the name says it all: there is plenty of green here to relax, study or hang out with your fellow students. The highlight of the park is a breathtaking palace. For those of you who like to party, Dresden also offers enough student bars with one of the highest densities in all of Germany - in the truest sense of the word.
How is the TU Dresden campus structured?
The TU Dresden is not a campus university, which means that its buildings are spread across the city: the medical faculty is located at the Blasewitz site, while forest and hydrosciences are located at the Tharandt site. At Weberplatz and Johannesstadt you will mainly find the humanities and social sciences, as well as the matriculation office, the central student advisory service and the international office of the TU Dresden. The main campus of the Technical University of Dresden is located in the Südvorstadt: here you will find all faculties, as well as the Saxon State and University Library (SLUB) and most of the canteens.
