Comprehensive overview of structure, synthesis, and modification of biological macromolecules including DNA, RNA, proteins, and lipids; covers analytical techniques for cellular components and includes microbiology seminars on current research topics in synthetic biology.

Technologies and methods: bio and chemical analytics
Teaches methodologies in biochemical and cellular analytics for quantitative characterization of biological molecules including DNA/RNA technologies, protein technologies with interaction analyses and structural biology, and metabolite analysis using chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Imparts methods for genetic manipulation of cells and imaging/non-imaging techniques for quantitative assessment of cells including molecular cloning, genome editing, fluorescence microscopy, FACS, and cell cultivation systems.

Covers industrial research and development of biotechnological drugs including preclinical research, pharmacology, process development, formulation, clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercialization with emphasis on quality management and regulatory requirements.

Enzyme production and strain development in bioprocess engineering
Covers strategies and methods for product and strain optimization using high-throughput techniques and rational engineering methods; includes directed and experimental evolution for strain development and optimization of biochemical properties.

Management and Business
Provides essential knowledge for entrepreneurship and business establishment covering business model creation, legal structures, financing options, tax regulations, intellectual property, and soft skills including ideation and pitching techniques.
