Three main advantages of common rail system compared to the injection synchronised pressure generation?    
1. Allows injection pressure, duration, and timing to be varied in a wide range, nearly independent of the operating point
2. The injection process is controlled by the solenoid valve controlled injectors. This results in the ability to vary the number of injections in an operating cycle, eg. pre or post injections.
3. The system in the high pressure reservoir is regulated depending on the operating point, using a control device. The fuel pump can operate independently of the engine speed. Thus, high pressures can also be reached at a low engine speed.

So that the peak pressure is reached shortly after TDC, the ignition angle must be increased accordingly with increasing engine speed

minimal thermal load capacity, fast to reach self-cleaning temperature.
 „cold“ spark plug: Spark plug with short insulator nose, small heat receptive
surface, high protection against glow ignition, danger of contamination.

Carbon monoxide emerges due to incomplete combustion of carbon during oxygen shortage (Rich mixture or λ < 1.0). If enough oxygen is available the combustion continues until the transformation into CO2; at λ > 1.0 the amount of CO declines sharply.
