Introductory lecture into evolutionary biology, ecology and behaviour covering sexual selection, social evolution, co-evolution, biotic interactions, and conservation science, complemented by practical exercises in experimental design, molecular and chemical techniques.

Population Genetics and Genomics
Semester-long lecture introducing classical and coalescent theory-based population genetics and statistical genomics methods, complemented by a four-week bioinformatics course covering Linux environment, bash scripting, next generation sequencing data analysis, and visualization in R.

Evolution of Species Interactions
Lecture series covering plant-herbivore, plant-pollinator, plant-microbe interactions and multitrophic interactions with emphasis on evolutionary principles and molecular mechanisms, complemented by practical exercises in experimental design and methods including analytic chemistry, evolutionary genetics, and molecular biology.

Social Evolution: from genes to behavior
Advanced lecture series on animal behaviour, behavioural genomics, social evolution, and speciation, complemented by exercises including field-based and lab-based biodiversity studies, behavioural experiments, and analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data.

Evolution in Natural Populations
Lecture and method course on evolutionary concepts including natural selection, genetic drift, gene flow, and mutation as applied to natural populations, with focus on analyzing empirical data and interpreting genetic diversity and differentiation patterns.

Evolutionary modelling
Lecture and exercise course providing mathematical tools for theoretical biology and eco-evolutionary modelling including population genetics, quantitative genetics, game-theoretical models, and individual-based simulations, with emphasis on reproducing and extending published results in R and Matlab.

Module covering anthropological topics in evolutionary biology context, offered as compulsory elective option in semester 2.

Project Work
Extended laboratory, theoretical or computer course involving independently conducted scientific experiments with data generation for subsequent analysis and documentation in the Master's thesis module.
4. Semester30 ECTS
Master Thesis
Six-month module comprising a Master's thesis and oral examination, where data generated in the project work module are analyzed and documented, with the final examination conducted upon completion.
