Biology means the study of life 

Therefore ethnobiology is the study of how people(local) interact with all aspects of natural environment including plants, animals, landforms, forests and soils etc. 

We can also describe it as the how indigenous people view and use plants. 

Most of its goals are similar to those of anthropology, in order to understand how other people view the world and their relation to it.
