University of Greifswald - insider tip

The relaxed sitting with friends on a meadow or by a river is difficult to imagine life for most students without. This is exactly what you can do at the Greifswald Museum Harbor. With a view of the Ryck, this is probably one of the most beautiful places in Greifswald. Here you can enjoy a cozy barbecue or, alternatively, you can satisfy your hunger on one of the catering ships. Another tip, but not an absolute insider tip, is a trip to the Eldena monastery ruins. The trip there is a definite must for every newcomer to Greifswald! These are the rust-red remains of a Cistercian monastery founded in 1199. It is not only of outstanding cultural and architectural historical significance, but is still used today for events such as theater performances. The rust-red ruin Eldena near Greifswald is also a wonderful photo backdrop.

The University of Greifswald is one of the oldest universities in Germany and in the Baltic Sea region

The university has its own observatory

In 1991 3,211 students were enrolled, in 2019 there were already 10,179
