  • UV-vis, circular dichromism, and fluorescence spectroscopy -> different absorptions of electromagnetic radiation by the different AA

How is the property of circular dichroism used in protein analysis?

Why does this work?

It is used to give hints to the identity of a protein. 

-> As left and right circularly polarized light superpositioned gives linerarly polarized light and a protein effects the 2 components differently, linearly polarized light can be used to shine it through a solution of the protein, observing how the polarization of the light tilts to one or the other position, letting the observer make inferences about the protein identity.
