  • Land as physical space: Surface of the earth on which life takes place (fixed in quantity); units of land: land parcels, up to whole planet

  • Land as commodity: Commodity in land markets -> economic growth; Bundle of rights, restrictions and responsibilities; also: water, airspace or minerals
  • Land as human right: Universal declaration of human rights act Art. 17: "Everyone has the right to own property..."; Transformation into natural law -> political tool
  • Land as resource: Means of support and provision (power/wealth); Sum of natural and man-made resources over which possesion of land gives control
  • Land as consumption good: Consumer good produced by human enterprise; Buildings, recreation sites, factor of production
