The Technical University of Ilmenau is largely a campus university, which means that you have most of the university buildings and facilities compactly distributed over one site and not across the city. The TU Ilmenau campus is located on Ehrenberg, which is in the east of the city of Ilmenau - here you will find most of the university buildings and the student residences of the Thuringia Student Union. There is also another, smaller campus on Weimarer-Straße - the Georg-Schmidt-Technikum: here you will find the Curie, Faraday, Helios and X-ray buildings. The names of the buildings already indicate that the technical courses gather here.
