EMI:

  • much faster than ERT
  • doesn’t need to coupled to the ground (ERT needs to be calvanically coupled to the ground)
  • EMI inductive method (induce of currents in the ground –> can easily be used for large areas

ERT:

  • better spatial resolution
  • better for time lapse (fixed measurement points + measurements can be repeated over time)

Why is noise more problematic for TDEM than for FDEM?

FDEM use a continuous signal with exact one source frequency –> all signals that aren’t associated with the source signal can easily be filtered out
